About the Artist

Janice Clewis is a custom portrait photographer specializing in children's portraits. She enjoys all aspects of photography such as weddings, seniors, family, business and event, but as you see in her work, she has a passion for babies and children.

Janice is a native of High Point, NC but currently resides in Seven Lakes West, NC. Janice started her interest in photography in college photography classes related to her art curriculum. She was the art editor of her high school and college annual staff working closely with photographers.

Janice majored in art and special needs. She taught special needs students for twenty-two years. She started using professional camera equipment in 1989 as a hobby. This evolved into a career change when she won the war over cancer in 2004.

Now Janice has a portrait photography degree. She is an active member of Professional Photographers of North Carolina, Professional Photographers of America, SEPPA, and Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. She has won awards in her photography through PPNC gaining recognition in the photography profession and continues to let her photography evolve as an artist developing technique and unique style. Janice won first place in photojouralism in 2007 placing her image in the PPNC traveling Loan Collection.
